Four policemen arrested due to negligence in DI Khan jail attack

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Four policemen were put behind bars for their negligence in the attack by the Tehrik-e-Taliban on the Dera Ismail Khan JailExpress News reported.
Investigations by an investigation team revealed that the policemen had failed to defend the DI Khan jail. Qaisar Khan, Sufaid Khan, Ateequr Rehman and Khan Bahadur have been jailed.
The police had arrested the four policemen the same day as the DI Khan Jail attack took place, who were on physical remand since the last seven days.
Two of the four were posted at the main gate of the DI Khan Central Jail, while the other two were posted on LMGs positioned at the gate. All four had escaped when the attack took place.
The alleged weapons that the attack perpetrators used were incapable of inflicting much damage to the main gates of the jail had the policemen decided to stand their ground, Express News correspondent Ramzan Seemab reported.
The policemen have been put behind bars in the very jail that they failed to defend.
At least six people were killed, including five policemen as the Tehreek-e-Taliban mounted a late night assault on the prison in Dera Ismail Khan late on July 30, in which many prisoners also managed to escape.
